Did you know there are loads of configuration options to symfony routes that the reference book is not telling you?

Since the release of symfony 1.4 I have been playing around with symfonys routing.
I have implemented a lot of custom route classes as it is often very handy to do some custom URL matching magic and other useful route centric stuff.
But in most cases what you want to achieve can be done by route configuration alone.
